h2>Diffusers for Underwater Strobes and Lights

Diffusers are front-mounted modifiers for underwater strobes and continuous lights. They broaden beam angle and produce a more uniform spread for subjects at close to medium range.

Designs include flat panels, soft domes, and bowl-style hoods. Typical effects are a wider beam, reduced hot spots, and a small output loss of about 0.5–1.5 stops depending on material and thickness.

Beam Angle, Output and Colour Temperature

Adding a diffuser increases coverage for ultra-wide scenes and close-focus wide-angle. Expect less peak intensity but smoother edges and improved beam uniformity.

Colour options can shift or stabilise colour temperature for natural rendering. Neutral, warming, and cooling variants help balance mixed ambient light conditions underwater.

Attachment Methods and Compatibility

Most diffusers attach via clip-on frames, bayonet rings, or elastic bands. Correct sizing ensures a secure fit on the strobe head without vignetting in wide-angle use.

Check the required mount in the strobes category and confirm coverage with your chosen optics in the ports category if you combine strobes with dome ports.

  • Flat, dome, and bowl-style diffuser designs
  • Wider beam with smoother edge falloff
  • Approx. 0.5–1.5 stops output reduction
  • Neutral or colour-shifting options available
  • Clip, bayonet, or elastic attachment
