Electrical cables for underwater strobe connections
Electrical cables are used to trigger external strobes from the camera inside the housing. They carry the signal through watertight connectors, allowing reliable flash synchronisation under water.
Cable length and positioning on camera setups
These cables are available in different lengths, so the strobe can be positioned on trays & arms at the required distance. A proper seal is essential to prevent leaks at the bulkhead or connector.
When to use electrical instead of fibre optic cables
Some photographers choose fibre optic connections, but electrical cables remain important when housings or strobes do not support optical triggering. They are also preferred for consistent firing in challenging light conditions.
Reliability and correct exposure control
Using the correct cable helps avoid misfires. It also ensures that exposure settings are applied correctly, especially when working with manual or TTL strobe control.
- Connects camera housing to external strobe
- Available in different lengths for flexible setups
- Requires watertight connectors to prevent leaks
- Used where optical triggering is not supported
- Ensures reliable flash synchronisation under water
