Hoya Close Up +2 diopter 82mm - type II HMC

The Hoya Close-Up +2 II HMC 82mm is a +2 dioptre close-up filter for lenses with an 82 mm filter thread. Mounted directly onto the front of the lens, it reduces the minimum focusing distance so you can photograph small subjects at greater magnification. It is suitable for close-up photography without changing to a dedicated macro lens.

Close-up photography

The +2 optical power allows a compatible lens to focus at a shorter distance than it normally can. This increases the size of the subject in the frame and makes the filter useful for photographing details. The filter attaches to the existing 82 mm filter thread of the lens, so no change of lens is required. It can therefore also be used with compatible zoom lenses, retaining the available focal-length range while reducing the focusing distance.

HMC multi-coating

The optical glass uses Hoya Multi-Coating to reduce reflections from the filter surfaces. This helps limit flare and ghosting and provides a stated light transmission of more than 97%.

Combining close-up filters

Multiple close-up filters can be stacked to increase the combined optical power. When several filters are stacked, the additional filter frames can cause vignetting depending on the lens, focal length and configuration.
