Because it is impossible to make one book for the various types of beginner's cameras, Ron has also written separate appendices for the most popular cameras. If desired, select the attachment of your choice above the 'Add to Cart' button. The basic book and an appendix in one purchase also gives you a nice discount!

How to process all this information in one book?

That was the next problem. How are you going to put all this very different information into one book? That would be too expensive, too thick and to a large extent uninteresting. On the other hand, making a book per type of camera is not financially feasible because the print runs would be too small. The solution has become this general basic manual in which I have written separate appendices for the different cameras. After dealing with the basic technique, reference is made to the appendix in which you can read how this technique should be set up on the relevant camera. The specific properties, unique settings and the way in which the camera should work with other equipment such as flash units are also described in the appendices.

At the moment there are several attachments for popular models, but if a new popular underwater camera comes on the market, a new attachment can be written for it quickly.

The information in the appendices has been extensively tested by users of the respective camera. For this I am very grateful to many underwater photographers. Their criticism and suggestions allowed me to improve the attachments to make sure they are suitable for the user.

Purpose of this book

The ultimate goal of this book is to help you decide which camera to buy if you want to get into underwater photography. And if you already have a camera, this book will give you the knowledge to make the most of the technical possibilities of your camera.

This book covers all the basic techniques specifically related to underwater photography. A start is also made on mastering the basic composition rules with the aim of taking better pictures and given the first impetus to post-processing photos using a simple photo editing program.

What don't you find in this book?

The chapters on equipment and technology are very extensive, but really intended for the novice underwater photographers and photographers who have been working with a compact camera for some time but want to take better photos. You won't find advanced flash techniques and flash positions here, as well as extensive composition rules and instructions on how to post-process, manipulate and classify photos. You can find all this in the handbook for advanced users.
