The Backscatter IR Filter for the Backscatter Hybrid Flash HF-1 is designed for remote lighting setups, preventing any light emitted by the trigger strobe from appearing in the photograph. While effectively blocking all visible light, it allows the power level signal and trigger flash to transmit to the remote strobe.

Wireless Off Camera Remote Control

The Backscatter Hybrid Flash is equipped with a remote transmit and receive function, enabling wireless remote control and triggering.

This system operates through the primary transmitting strobe, which can remotely adjust the power level of other Hybrid Flash receiving strobes. The included Hybrid Flash Light Pipe attaches to the fiber optic mount of the Hybrid Flash, allowing it to receive signals from the transmitting strobe without the need for a fiber optic cable or electronic trigger.

With no cables and no need to physically adjust remote strobes, there's less disturbance from movement and a reduced risk of startling marine life.

Multiple Hybrid Flashes in remote mode

Multiple Hybrid Flashes can be utilized in remote mode, offering many creative possibilities.

The Hybrid Flash and the Mini Flash 2 utilize the same remote control protocol, allowing both strobes to be operated together remotely. This works great for off-camera remote side lighting, backlighting, and snooting with both the Hybrid Flash and Mini Flash 2 from the Backscatter Remote Lighting Muck Stick. Remote lighting is now easy to deploy and a breeze to use.

Trigger an HF-1 or MF-2 with the optional Backscatter IR Filter to block any light from the on-camera strobe from showing up in the shot.

Example of remote lighting

Two Hybrid Flashes and a Mini Flash 2 with a Color Filter were used in the setup for this shot. The front light is shot with a Hybrid Flash with the forthcoming snoot. The colored backlight is shot with a Mini Flash 2 and color filter. Another Hybrid Flash was used as the remote controller with an IR filter to remotely control the Mini Flash 2 at the back of the bottle.
