When to choose which battery or charger
- Camera batteries (packs): Model-specific packs for OM SYSTEM, Canon, and similar cameras. A dual-slot charger is useful if you rotate multiple packs.
- Action-camera batteries: Compact, brand-specific packs such as GoPro. Handy as spares during snorkeling or a full day at sea.
- Li-ion 18650/26650: High-capacity cells for video lights and dive lights. Long runtimes and stable discharge.
- Ni-MH AA: Reliable option for strobes. Also widely used in other accessories.
- Travel power: USB-C chargers and power banks are practical when away from home. A universal charger helps if you mix battery formats.

Chemistry & format
Li-ion cells like 18650/26650 offer high density for underwater lighting. Ni-MH AA batteries are common in strobes. Camera and action-camera packs require the exact form factor and charge profile for each model.
In-camera charging vs. external
Some cameras allow charging inside the body via USB. Convenient at home, but during charging the camera cannot be used. For travel or full dive days, an external charger and spare battery are smarter: one charges while the other is in use.
