Compact cameras are smaller cameras with a fixed lens. The great thing about a compact camera (as the name suggests) is that the camera is very small. This makes carrying a compact camera much easier compared to, for example, a system camera or DSLR. Compact cameras can be expanded with lighting (video lights or flashes), macro conversion lenses, and wide-angle conversion lenses.

There are quite a few differences between compact cameras. A 1/2.3" sensor or a 1" sensor is often used (which is a larger sensor).
A 1" sensor is bigger and ultimately captures much more light, resulting in better quality.

There are beginner models that automatically set many settings (very convenient!). Are you looking for more of a challenge and want to get creative yourself? Then we recommend an advanced compact camera, which can be fully manually set. Think of ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.

OM SYSTEM TG-7

The OM System Tough TG-7 underwater camera is the successor to the renowned Olympus TG-6. This compact camera is already waterproof down to 15 meters and, with the PT-059 underwater housing from Olympus, up to 45 meters deep.

The microscope mode (super macro) of the TG-7, just like the TG-6, is incredibly impressive. It offers by far the best macro capabilities of all compact cameras on the market. With the TG-7, you can take frame-filling (underwater) photos of the smallest nudibranchs or insects without needing additional lenses.

The TG-7 has the option to shoot in RAW and easily set the white balance. It offers 4K video: a resolution of 4K is much higher than Full HD, resulting in even better and sharper footage! This is the fifth generation of the Sony RX100 camera, and as we have come to expect, the camera has not drastically changed, but a number of noteworthy features have been added.

The most striking new feature is the autofocus system. The Fast Hybrid AF system uses 315 focus points and can shoot up to 150 photos at 24fps at the full resolution of 20.1 megapixels (even with AF/AE tracking). In practice, this means the camera should be able to focus within 0.05 seconds.

Just like the RX100 IV, this camera also uses the stacked CMOS image sensor of 13.2 x 8.8 mm. This type of sensor is a remarkable advancement in photography and videography. Capture wonderful images with this camera thanks to super slow motion of 1000fps, a distortion-free shutter with an incredible speed of 1/32,000 seconds, and 4K video. Enjoy endless creative freedom. The image quality of the RX100 VA is so stunning that you'll almost forget this is a compact device and not a professional camera!
